A Study Of Women's Economy Status In Ancient Rome

The purpose of this paper is to investigate the economic situation of women in ancient Rome, through screening Roman law and the legal content of the changes in women's economy, analyze and discuss the economic status of women in Ancient Rome. The perspective of its research will help us to grasp and understand some changes in the economic status of women which are influenced on the development of the Roman history.In Roman law, and economic status of women is closely related to the dowry, the right to inherit property and the right to participate in economic activities. In the First Chapter the author trends to analyze Roman origin of the concept of the dowry system , dowry norms, the amount of dowry and dowry to the husband's rights, premarital gifts and unique products. Rome's marriage is the dowry, which is not just for women from obtaining dowry, but what is more it is involved in the community through the distribution of property. In Ancient Rome, women's participation in society dowry is a form of the distribution of property. Chapter Two has a general direction to illustrate that Rome will inherit the inheritance rights of women wills, probate of wills women the right to inheritance and succession of women's inheritance rights and evolution. Inheritance of property possession gave women more power and the disposal of assets, which is another form of Women participation in distribution of social property. Chapter Three analyzes the field of economy and other women's rights and restrictions on women in the field of economy and beyond the actual situation : on the one hand, women in debt, gifts, adoption, and so on property occupied by the legal restrictions that distinguishes men, but the Roman constantly changing society, women are subjected to the restrictions relaxed, not so strict. Women, on the other hand, in real life broke the law to be equipped with some more women in the family : the right to occupy a major position, the economy is the main bearer of the family, some women may be involved in the trading of land involved in the operation of movable and immovable property.The Roman women through the trousseau system, the property inherit the system and other economic activity participation society property assignment and the transfer, plays the vital role in the Rome social development advancement, thus demonstrates own unique economic status.
