| This thesis researches the family status of the ancient Roman royal women in the early Roman Empire. The paper can be divided into two parts, the introduction and the main body.The introduction introduces the present national and foreign study conditions of woman history, especially the study conditions of Roman woman history.The main body includes three parts. The first chapter talks about the society and feminine status in early Roman Empire. The second part discusses the family status of royal women in the early empire, including the relationship among the family members, marriage arrangements and the object of choice, on the affairs of the intervention, funeral and evaluation. It shows the specific characterstics of the family status of royal women. The thrid chapter analyses the effects and substances of the special status of royal women. In the aspect of effects, it expounds the private area and the public area. In the aspect of substances, it discusses the motives of advertisements and the needs of dominion.It is noteworthy that in the early empire,the "high" family status of royal women is a relative concept. Comparing with the women of lower community and women of other ancient countries, the royal women have greater powers and higher position in the family, they affected the society in some extent. However, in the roman family based on the patriarchy, the royal women also could not escape from the fate of subordinating to the parents. The bright image in front of the public is not truly represent their lofty position in the family. It is for the purpose of domination and the substance is to serve for the country. |
