This thesis researches a basic but critical field of interpretation studies. That is to explore the production stage of interpretation from the perspective of public speaking. By analyzing different classic models of interpretation process, the author tries to figure out the role of an interpreter and how public speaking strategies will influence the interpretation production. After a couple of years'practical experiences (including interpretation, public speaking and interpretation teaching experiences)and material researches(including reviewing the history and literatures of interpenetration studies), the author comes to find out the close relations between public speaking and interpretation delivery and realizes the importance of public speaking skills in the production stage of interpretation. Inspired by the Paris School theory of communication, the author analyzes different communication processes of interpretation and public speaking and puts forward several public speaking strategies accordingly. More practically, the author takes a closer look at nowadays interpretation training programs and reveals their limitations and researches on the possibilities of applying some public speaking strategies to interpretation training. By interviewing several top notch public speakers who won the National English Speech Contest and with some personal experience in interpretation practices, the author illustrates in a more detailed sense about the functions and possibilities of public speaking researches in interpretation studies.
