Relationships Among Vocational Interesting Job Search Self-efficacy And Professional Commitment Of Undergraduate And Scales Developing

Through analyzed the undergraduats'vocational interesting, job search self-efficacy and professional commitment research, the author pointed out that the three of the current shortages. According to those studies, the author putted forward his theory and the assumptions, these were: (1)if the type of vocational interesting fitted the environment that the profession needed, the person would get highest scores on professional commitment; (2)in all the types of vocational interesting, the person with investigation career interesting got highest scores on professional commitment; (3) the level of perception job search self-efficacy would indirect or direct impact on the level of professional commitment; (4)the job search self-efficacy would impact the professional commitment through vocational interesting.To verify above the four assumptions, the author first developed the scales of undergraduats vocational interesting and job search self-efficacy. Based on the data of exploratory factor analysis and confirm factor analysis, the questionnaires were good and every indicators fitted the requirement of statistics. So the two scales could be used as instruments to study the relationships of vocational interesting, employability self-efficacy and professional commitment of undergraduats.According to data gathered from four universities (N=568), we could got the characters of vocational interesting, job search self-efficacy, professional commitment and their relationships. The results were:(1)There were marked gender, professions and schools difference on vocational interesting. On gender variable, men inclined to realistic, investigation interesting, while women inclined to artist and social interesting, and there were no difference on conventional and enterprise interesting. On major variable, science and technology's students inclined to realistic career interesting while arts inclined to arts interesting. On school variable , Comprehensive institutions tend to investigation interesting, science and technology school inclined to realistic interesting, teaching school inclined to social and conventional vocational interesting.(2)There was no significantly gender difference in students'job search self-efficacy, but on grades, subjects and schools there were main effect on it. On grades variable, Grade Two got highest scores on job search self-efficacy while Grade Four got the lowest scores. On subject variable, science and technology's students got higher scores than arts'. On school variable, teaching schools got the highest scores, the second was the Comprehensive institutions, and the last was the agriculture schools.(3) On professional commitment, the average scores was 3.65, was not very high. On gender variable, girls got higher scores than boys in affective commitment and continuous commitment. Science and technology's students got higher scores than arts'on normal commitment, while teaching school's students got higher scores than other schools on affective and normal commitment.(4) To analysis the relationships of vocational interesting, job search self-efficacy and professional commitment, the author found :(a) the type of undergraduats'career interesting had no significantly influence on professional commitment; (b) the students with investigational vocational interesting got the highest scores on professional commitment; (c) job search self-efficacy most close associated with professional commitment, every dimension of job search self-efficacy were the effective prediction of professional commitment; (e) through the path analysis, investigational, social career interesting and job search self-efficacy were the perfect predictor indicators of professional commitment, another, social and investigational vocational interesting had indirect impacted professional commitment through job search self-efficacy.At last, the author gave some suggestions for further research such as improved the professional commitment questionnaire and to further analyze why the dimension of social support was lost in job search self-efficacy.
