Searching For Female Identity And Self-salvation

Margaret Atwood is one of the most prominent writers in contemporary Canadian literature, and the problems of women have always been her concerns. This thesis is dedicated to two of the novels, Bodily Harm (1981) and Cat's Eye (1989), which are published at the beginning and end of the 80s of last century. Through the employment of Foucault's power theory and feminist interpretation of power relations in both novels, how the heroines regain and redefine their selves and how the self-salvation is accomplished is presented in the thesis.
