The research seeks to explore the correlation between teacher's instructional strategies and students' affect. It is based on the theory of humanism, constructivism, social interactionism and SLA perspective. It is on the basis of the following two basic understandings: First, cognition and affect are two indispensable parts in language teaching and learning. Affective factors are of great importance in foreign language teaching. Affect is the bond of the communication between teachers and students. Second, in English class, teacher's behaviors have great influence on students' affect and their whole-person development. The author explores the impact that teacher's instructional strategies exert on student affect, mainly adopting qualitative analysis, as well as quantitative analysis. The participants are non- English major students and their English teacher. The research instruments include classroom observation, questionnaire and students' interviews. The result indicates that teacher's instructional strategies do have influence on students' affect. Only when teacher's instructional strategies meet the students' affective needs, is it possible for the teacher to create a comfortable, relaxing learning environment for students. Under this environment, the teacher would have positive feedback from students and then strengthen their affective factors to facilitate their initiative and autonomy in learning.
