| The subject of this paper is Ejina Torgouts, a branch of Orirats Mongols. This paper studies its formation, development and a variety of questions relating to this process. The author makes both vertical and horizontal survey, the former conducing to a general realization of this tribe, the latter leads to several dissertations. Both styles of study are in efforts to make the research more general, systematic and deep.This study on Ejina Torgouts is from Qing Dynasty to the fall of the Republic period. The author traces the history after its formation in the 18th century.This paper falls into five chapters.Chapter 1 traces the formation of Torgout people in Ejina Qi and makes a research on its relationship with the great comeback of Torgout people in 1771.Chapter 2 studies the relationship between Ejina Torgout people and the central government, including the relationship between Qing government and its relationship with the Republic government. The former pays more attention to Ejina Torgout people's loyalty and the rewards of Qing government, the latter studies the contribution of the last prince of Ejina Torgouts in the Republic period.Chapter 3 studies the economy, communication and population in Ejina Qi. Animal husbandry is the most important economy. Agriculture was only tried in the Public period. Commercial is under the control of Han traders in Ejina Qi. The communication and travel in Ejina Qi was usually by camel. The development of population underwent four stages in the history.Chapter 4 studies the culture and religion of Ejina Torgout people.Chapter 5 traces the environmental changes of the Ejina oasis from Qing dynasty to the Republic period, which is on the basis of historical records made by scholars. The author also states the environmental problems of Ejina Qi nowadays and gives several methods in solving it. |
