A Survey On Internet Addiction Disorder And Personality Factors Of Among Middle School Students In Lanzhou City

Internet has a tremendous benefit on the existence of human beings and social life. People have experienced some of the various benefits of computer networks, and meanwhile, many malpractices caused by Internet have appeared gradually. Internet Addiction Disorder(IAD), which is a non-biochemical obvious damage to the person's psychological and social function because of the excessive use of Internet. So, we organize the survey about IAD in the middle school students of Lanzhou city.Objective This research aims to explore a) the status of Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) in Lanzhou city. b) to explore the influencing factors related to Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD) in middle school students. c) the difference on Personality factors between IAD and NA on d) to provide a scientific reference for the intervened and treatment of the addicts.Methods 1. According to the cluster random stratified sample method, we randomly selected seven different junior and senior middle school in Lanzhou city. Total 2198 students were enrolled in the survey. With the self-made questionnaire "Internet use status" (Include basic state, for example: Gender, Age et al, and internet use status),"Internet Addiction questionnaire"; 2. To test IAD and NA in Middle school with "EPQ" (Age<16) and "16PF"(Age≧16); 3. The results were analyzed by using ssps11.5.Results 1.116 students, approximately 5.5% of the total in the investigation were defined as Internet addiction disorder. 85 male and 31 female , Male more than female, x~2 =24.280, P<0.005, the ratio is 2.74:1 with the male and female.54 students in the junior high school, 62 students in the senior high school; the ratio both of them are 1:1.15, in addition, the ratio of on internet is 86.62 in the middle school students. 2. Internet addiction disorder related to charge and time spent online, place of using internet and the characteristic of personality.Conclusion the prevalence of Internet addiction disorder in middle school students of Lanzhou city is 5.5%, IAD tie up with the hour on the Internet a week, charge spent online, place of using internet. Schoolboys are easier to be addicted than schoolgirls. Some of personality factors relate to develop Internet addiction disorder. Net bat is higher risk factor to lead to IAD, it should be reinforced to supervise Net bars.
