| Internet addiction is a kind of phenomenon that overuse of the internet has caused obvious harm to both the social and psychological functions. The author applies the Young’s Internet addiction test (IAT) to the1435students in7th,8th and9th grades from XX middle school. Through the investigation, it is found:(1)125students of all are diagnosed with Internet addiction, which accounts for8.71%;(2) The male students’rate of Internet addiction is obviously higher than female ones;(3) It showed a much lower rate in Internet addiction of students with High-middle school educated father while compared with those without;(4) It showed that degree of harmonious parents’ relationship has significate influence in Internet addiction of students.On the basis of investigation, the paper selects four internet addition subjects to do Individual intervention research by using multi-baseline design and individual cognitive-behavioral therapy, and finally examine changes in the level of Internet addiction, mental health and self-esteem levels. The study found:(1) the level of Internet addiction.in after test, Internet addiction levels of the subjects with mild symptoms declined, while the subjects with heavy symptoms showed nothing; In delay test,1subject with mild symptoms shows no rebound while the other two subjects with mild symptoms show slight rebound.(2) Mental health. In after test, the four subjects’ mental health has some improvements; in delay test, three subjects with mild symptoms show some ups and downs in some dimensions while one subject with heavy symptoms show great ups and downs in each dimensions;(3) self-esteem. In after test, the four subjects’ self-esteem has got some improvement; in delay test, self-esteem level of3subjects with mild symptoms went down, while the level of one heavier symptom continued increased. According to that, cognitive behavioral therapy can reduce mile symptoms of Internet addiction but is not very effective to heavy symptoms.In this paper, the author made some suggestions for middle school students’ internet addiction from3angles, including parents, schools and society.(1) Parents should create a good family environment, give more psychological support to middle school students and maintain proper patience to the internet addicted ones;(2) Schools should pay high attention to Internet addiction and establish each student’s psychological profile to expand prevention work;(3) Society should strengthen the management of Internet Bars to give a good growth environment to middle school students. |
