A Cognitive View On Piano Sight-Reading And Its Training Strategy

Fostering the ability of sight-reading is an important aspect in piano education. Some pianists or piano educators have proposed some ways in helping improve sight-reading ability; however a universal flaw with their propositions is that of lacking theoretical foundation. This paper tries to analyze the process of sight-reading from the perspective of cognitive psychology so as to provide a theoretic basis for piano educators to innovate and update their approaches in training sight-reading ability.
