The Study On Lingbao Daoqing Drama

Lingbao Daoqing drama, also called"Daoqing"or"BaXianLe", is a kind of oral art popular in Lingbao, Henan province. Campared with those in other parts of the country, Lingbao Daoqing drama is unique in both music and lyrics. And it also has preserved the original ecological characteristics of the art to a larger degree. Previously, neither the cultural nor the academic circle has paid adequate attention to this folk art. Of the study that actually carried out, some were checking of its historical origin and description of its artisticforms; and others, although tried to investigate Lingbao Daoqing drama as intensively as possible, left results that were still not satisfactory. In such a context, this paper provides a study on the case of the representative artist of Lingbao Daoqing drama, Suo Xinyou, who has won the title of"The First Generation of Excellent Culture Successor in Henan province". Through the thorough and precise investigation and analysis of his tune character, as well as the drama content, the paper tries to grasp the essential characteristics of Lingbao Daoqing drama and to probe into its functions onto the folks and its relationship to Taoist culture. The paper is intended to explore the folk culture and art from a new perspective.The paper is composed of six parts:Part one: Introduction, an overview of Lingbao Daoqing drama.Part two: Study on the case of the representative artist of Lingbao Daoqing drama---Suo Xinyou. The paper takes Lingbao country's shadow puppet drama artist Suo Xinyou as the key object, and through the overall record and precise analysis of his study and performing experience, tune character, and shadow puppet carving skill, to provide a thorough, accurate description of the artistic features and current situation of Lingbao Daoqing drama. Part three: Lingbao Daoqing drama and Taoist culture. Lingbao Daoqing drama influence of the latter is reflected from its subject matters to its music. So, the paper investigates the relationship between the two through the analysis of the drama content and artistic forms of Lingbao Daoqing drama.Part four: The Functions of Lingbao Daoqing drama on the folks. From the performers'perspective, the drama is a means of making a living; from the audiences'perspective, the drama has the function of education, recreation, emotion venting, religious worship, psychological compensation and adaptation, etc.Part five: The cultural ecological problems of folk arts. The Lingbao Daoqing drama using the theory of cultural ecology to analyze the cultural ecological problems of this folk art.Part six: Concluding Remarks. Call for the rescue and protection of Lingbao Daoqing drama, and advice on the concrete measures.
