| Music is the composer's language which expresses his mind andemotions. As music is sentimental and emotional, it constitutes animportant part of human feelings and exerts a vital impact on the emotionaldevelopment of college students. It has attracted great attention of theeducation field to promote the comprehensive development of collegestudents by appreciating music. What is the effect of classic music oncollege students' feeling? To be specifiC, how do the key elements (that isthe beat, speed, and mode) of classic music affect college students? Nodoubt, this is a significant problem worthy of study.Based on the results of domestic and external study in this field, takingthe form of specialist interview and practical investigation, using the recordlist of emotional reaction resulting from different music made by myselfand Chinese mood adjective check list developed by professor HuangXiting etc. from Southwest University and professor Qian Mingyi etc. fromBeijing University, this paper conducted a poll by random sampling 120students from Xiangnan University to probe how different kinds ofclassic music influence college students' feeling and to analyze how collegestudents of different majors and genders respond to classic music and howthe key elements of classic music affect their feelings. The result shows:1. Different music can result in different feelings and a certain feelingcan be caused by different music. At the same time, different subjects mayhave different feeling to the same music.2. The response of students of different majors and genders to thesame music shows no distinct differences.3. Regardless of the size of mode, the type of time and thecomposition of mode and time of music, the rate of music has a clear effect on the feelings of college students. Slow music easily leads to such feelingsas sadness, sorrow, agony, restlessness and resentment, whereas fast musicreminds students of positive feelings like joy, excitement and so on.4. The mode and time of music has no distinct influence on the feelingof college students.5. Regardless of the size of mode, concerning time and speed, theresult is that the fast triple time music tend to bring out more positivefeelings while the stow duple time music tend to induce more negativefeelings. |
