A Study On Adposition Of Pinghua And Yue Dialect In The South Of Guangxi

Based on the theory of grammaticalization, referencing to the adposition theory of linguistic typology, The author investigated and studied comprehensively on the prepositions, postpositions and directional verbs in the construction of"V+X+L" of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi, and discovered it was a SVO-prominent language. Most of its syntactic characteristics of post-position components accord with the typological profile of SVO-prominent dialects in south Chinese. Such as locative, dative and benifcative prepositions, which can take a postmodifier position after the verb-object phrase. And postposition, which is undeveloped compraring to Mandarin Chinese. Such as directional verbs, which is of morepreposition features than Mandarin Chinese in the construction of "V+X+L"; the "ai" or "zhuo" of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi, which is not a real agent marker, but a sufferings-affected marker; and no disposal maker, like "ba" in Mandarin Chinese, which marks the patient component.This paper covers seven chapters, the principal part is from chapter two to chapter five.In Chapter of Introduction, the author briefly introduced the significance, the backgrounds and the source of corpus on this paper.In Chapter One, the author defined the adposition of this paper as follows: the adposition, is a function word in the grammar system, used to mark the thematic role ,which is in oblique position of syntax.Chapter Two is about prepositions system of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi. There is a detailed description of word order of prepositions phrase and its grammaticalization path about locative, dative and benifcative.Chapter Three is about postposition system of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi, The author described its postposition system and analyzed its undeveloped characteristic.In Chapter Four, the author introduced the general features of directional verb of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi, which is of more preposition features than Mandarin Chinese in the construction of"V+X+L".Chapter Five is about passive and disposal sentences. In the point of the author's view, the "ai" or "zhuo" of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi, which is not a real marker of agent, but a marker of sufferings-affected; And no disposal maker, which marks the patient component. The author also analyzed the syntactic characteristics of postposition components, which accords with the typological profile of SVO-prominent languages.In the Chapter Six, the author analyzed the intrinsically relations between preposition, postposition and directional verb of Pinghua and Yue dialect in the South of Guangxi. And pointed out its meanings in the study of Chinese grammar.The last part is conclusion.
