Duan Yucai, the author of Annotation of Shuowenjiezi, was one of thefamous Chinese ancient Linguist in Qing Dynasty. All his achievements in palaeography,phonology and hermeneutic, reflected in Annotation of Shuowenjiezi, which was hismagnum opus. And Liushu Yinyunbiao has made enormous achievement in ancientphonology, both in the division and the order of ancient Chinese. The intact theoretics inLiushu Yinyunbiao made Annotation of Shuowenjiezi be successful in disquisition ofShuowenjiezi. And the division of ancient Chinese reflected in Annotation ofShuowenjiezi has also proved and developed his theoretics. There has been so muchtreatise on them, since Duan accomplished his Liushu Yinyunbiao and Annotation ofShuowenjiezi. But there has been little treatise on disquisition of Duan Yucai's ancitntChinese from his Annotation of Shuowenjiezi.The text is divided into four parts. The foreword discusses the significance ofcomparison on Liushu Yinyunbiao and Annotation of Shuowenjiezi, reviews the historyof study on Liushu Yinyunbiao and Annotation of Shuowenjiezi, and point out theimportance in this text.The second part, in which author reorders the characters in according to the seventeencompendium of phonetice in ancient Chinese discussed in Liushu Yinyunbiao, mostlyanalyses the deficiency of no-compendium of zhizhizhi rhymes.The third part, with the method of analyzing sound merger, particularly treatises theproduction and development of Duan Yucai's theory on Heyun. On the one hand,testifying the rationality on Heyun theory by analyzing Heyun characters inAnnotation of Shuowenjiezi, on the other, point out his disfigurements. And the mostimportance in this text is demonstrating all of the Heyun characters in Annotation ofShuowenjiezi perfectly.Finally, this paper briefly pointes out the success and deficiency in the ancientChinese, which was discussed in Annotation of Shuowenjiezi.
