Under the context of the coming of'globalization'and the academic communication between China and the western countries getting more and more frequent, a theory or a concept is always in the process of traveling from one person to another person, a context to the others and one period to another. From the moment when the theory sets its foot on the way to travel, the socio-historical and socio-cultural context of the theory changes which leads to the change of the theory itself. To understand and explain this kind of change, it is necessary to take translation which is the traffic tool of the traveling theory into consideration.Translation studies have taken its culture turn in the 1970s and translation studies fell within the category of cultural studies. More and more researchers have noticed that translation is not a transparent field. They tend to examine translation within its socio-historical and socio-cultural context. The tendency to investigate translation within its socio-historical and socio-cultural context encourages the researchers to the question of translation with the change of geographical contexts, which must be considered in relevance to the motivations in the selection of certain texts to be translated, the choices and positions that are made and held by a translator, and the social implications of the distribution and reception of a translation. That is why the thesis employs traveling theory and the politics of translation as its theoretical basis to analyze the concept of gender's travel in China. Because of internal need of women study, the fulfillment of Chinese open policy and the promotion or fund support of some international organizations, the concept gender travel into China fluently. The process of gender travel in China is actually a process of translation which is also a process of dialogue and negotiation, depending on the translators'clearly understanding of the local social life and the knowledge of the two-sides political and culture. But after its travel into and settlement in China, more or less, this concept doesn't escape the destiny of misunderstood or misinterpreted, which the thesis thinks is a normal phenomenon for any theories'travel into other contexts.
