| In the 1970 s,American women leader Kate Millet creatively put forward the term "gender politics" through her book "Sex Politics",and pointed out that the essence of gender relations is a political relationship.In 1975,under the influence of her predecessors,Laura Mulvey published "visual pleasure and narrative film",which opened the prelude of feminist film theory,"Gender Politics" also with the use of theorists,into a woman’s movie.Since the beginning of the new century,Chinese films have been developing vigorously,and the number of female-themed films has increased dramatically.Compared with the female movies before the New Century,the female images and theme thoughts have made great progress and development.Stories of working women from all walks of life,of all ages,have been brought to the big screen.As the women’s movement swept the world,people’s ideas became more and more open,once ignored and forgotten issues resurfaced,feminism gave new answers to these questions.To study the construction of gender politics in Chinese films about women since the new century,first,to understand the attitudes and methods of contemporary filmmakers in creating films about women and women,the second is to sum up the gender political issues which tend to flow towards mass reflection,from the surface to the depth,and at the same time to deduce the gender political discipline and the secret mechanism of resistance that women face in life through the movies,for the male and female audience to reflect on and wake up.This study adopts two research methods of Literature Research and text analysis,which are complementary to previous studies in the selection of films.In other related studies,gender politics is a highly generalized topic.This study deconstructs the concept of gender politics and uses the film case as a supplementary explanation,can more clearly and intuitively explain the phenomenon of gender politics in the film.This research divides gender politics into two directions: gender oppression and gender resistance,in which gender oppression can be interpreted from three main angles: politics,economy and culture,and assisted by film cases,in particular,the cultural perspective emphasizes the oppression of gender between women in the patriarchal culture.The gender resistance is also divided into three directions: the active resistance in the power pattern,the support of the disadvantaged,the self-construction of androgynous subject discourse,and the reconstruction of the contemporary female appearance The liberation of the mind and body —— from the bondage of traditional ideas.Four tendencies can be seen from the analysis of the construction of gender politics in Chinese female-themed films since the new century.Some female directors are unable to get rid of the small-scale self-entertainment of female films,and most of the films are based on the oppression of gender,while the men in the film and the audience outside the film are full of strong derogatory and repellent.Secondly,in the attempt to explore the tragedy of the two sexes,women’s films do not completely put the tragedy to men,but try to dig behind the event of the hidden hand,from a wide range of social perspective to answer.Third,men are no longer just the objects of criticism in films about women.They may be the helpers of women,or they may be the victims of power with women,the male director’s participation makes the female subject matter movie no longer merely clings to the Feminine Angle of view to present the tragedy,the male interpretation is equally rich in strength.Fourth,movies that show relationships between women are often the ones that highlight the true meaning of gender politics.Men who are not shown on screen may still be able to control women’s lives,and when women become powerful,she’ll be the face of the Patriarchy again. |
