A Study On The Poems Of Three Mr.Shen Of Wuxing

Three Mr. Shen of Wuxing are belong to the "new party" scholar group, leaded by Huang Anshi, which are different from the "Jia You" scholar group headed by Ou Yangxiu and "Yuan You" scholar group organized by Su Shi. Mr. Shens were living at the historical turning stage on the literature development in Song Dynasty. This study is trying to analyze the poems of the Mr. Shens' from their writing themes and contents, literary creation styles, emotion tendency, artistic styles etc. in order to know the heart and mental world of the scholar-officials, in turns, to fully understand the literature and culture in Song Dynasty.This study is categorized into three sections:The first section is "Studies on the Poems of Shen Kuo", which is analyzed from the scholar's profound knowledge on people and life. In this section, two major parts is separated. First of all, "Shen Kuo's life story and his poems" is to present the connection between scholar's personal experience and his poems. Secondly, "the historic value in Shen Kuo's poems" is to analyze the representative poems of Shen Kuo, which contain more knowledge and higher historic value, in order to illustrate Shen Kuo's profound knowledge and artistic accomplishment.The second section is summarized as "Studies on the Poems of Shen Gou", which is divided into two parts, as "Shen Gou's Poems on his official life with colleagues" and "Shen Gou's Poems on his envoy to Liao", according to different subjects and themes. The personality, and mental world as well as its causes of Shen Gou is therefore trying to be exploited by analyzing the poems that the scholar created with his colleagues and friends and that he made when he was an envoy to Liao.The third section is named "Studies on the Poems of Shen Liao". The first part of this section is "Shen Liao's poems on his official life", which explain the poem subjects by the scholar's artistic accomplishment and hermit affection. The second part "Shen Liao's poems on his demotion and hermit life" is more concentrated on the author's knowledge on people and the world so as to explain the different mental features of Shen Liao under different environments.It is concluded from the above analysis that, Shen Kuo is erudite, and resourceful and quick at making decisions on his official work; Shen Gou is Confucianism-orientated, full of literary talent and excellent on his official work; Shen Liao is aloof and arrogant, prefer spending his whole life on poems rather than official work. These different personalities distinguish their poems as the following aspects: the poems of Shen Kuo are directed by clear and distinct style and full of historic value; Shen Gou's are elegant and graceful; and Shen Liao presents a free and easy, casual but elegant talented style of poems. In a word, all of their poems have their own outstanding features.
