Translation Of Chinese Neologisms Into English

The emergence of neologisms means the advancement and development of society. In today's world, with the rapid development of science and technology, the irreversible momentum toward globalization makes cross-cultural communication increasingly important and frequent. Through the translation of neologisms, China shows its great changes to the outside world. However, due to the "newness" and strong Chinese characters, the translation is a great challenge to translators.This paper makes a study on the translation of Chinese neologisms into English. Based on the scientific analysis and study on Chinese neologisms, several practical and popular methods of how to translate Chinese neologisms are illustrated.The paper consists of five parts in all. The first part is the general introduction, including the emergence and current situation of neologisms, necessity and significance of translating Chinese neologisms into English, and some related research achievements in this field.The second part is about an analysis and study at Chinese neologisms. The writer provides not only definition and classification but also the theory foundation of the importation, the ways of creation and the characters of Chinese neologisms, which gives a general picture of Chinese neologisms.The third part mainly concerns with difficulties and features of translating Chinese neologisms into English. The problems in translation of Chinese neologisms and the common disability of translators are mentioned in it. Besides, several features of translating Chinese neologisms into English are also introduced.The fourth part is the translation of Chinese neologisms into English, in which several principles and methods are proposed. Based on the general principles of translation, criteria of translating Chinese neologisms into English are summarized. The writer gives a brief introduction of the strategies and some supplementary places of translating Chinese neologisms into English.The last part concludes the paper.
