The wide spread of computers and the Internet makes Internet Language an important language phenomenon, which has attracted the attention of linguists both at home and abroad. The development of Chinese information technology brings about the popularity of Chinese Internet Language. The Net speech community promotes information exchange on line, creating a relatively free panel for Netizens to express their emotion and exchange ideas. Internet Language strengthens the expressiveness of language. At the same time it also exerts some influence on the traditional Chinese language form.This thesis consists of four parts besides Introduction and Conclusion.Introduction presents the necessity of the study of Chinese Internet Language and reviews the study of it both at home and abroad.Chapter One generalizes the scientific, language and social condition for the emergence of Internet Language as well as its features.Chapter Two analyzes Chinese Internet Language from the perspective of morphology,Chapter Three conducts a study of the relationship between Internet Language and class (including age, educational degree and profession); Internet Language and gender; Internet Language and power; and Internet Language and subculture by analysis of data about Netizens' information given by CNNIC (from the 14th to the 17th). Chapter Four analyzes the influence of Chinese Internet Language on the traditional Chinese language and the interaction between language development and standardization.Conclusion summarizes the previous parts and points out that: Chinese Internet Language is based on the traditional Chinese language form. It brings some impingement on Chinese education and language system. Some words even obstruct communication. Chinese Internet Language, a product of social development, meets the requirement of social communication. In the course ofinteraction between self-development and social regulation, Internet Language can finally find its right place in society and serve communication better.
