A Study On Children's Emotional Display Rules Under The Different International Stress Situations

Primary school is the important stage of individual socialization, and well individual relationship is the crucial environment of primary students' development. Many researches has proved that international stress is one of the main pressures. Under the international stress, if children can adjust their own emotion effectively is one of the important factors that influence their mental health. Children's emotional display rules are the crucial parts of children's emotional socialization, and children can adjust and control their true feelings and behaviors with these rules so that they can get well social effects in the international association.At present there are a few researches on the children's emotional display rules, and most of them are the development trend and influence factors. Few researches have paid close attention to the features of children's emotional display rales under the positive and negative situations; however, there is no report about the children's emotional display rules under the international stress situation.Children's emotional display rules are a suit of rules that children get in the socialization and adjust emotional display in the special situation. They are composed of the three parts which are knowledge about expression regulation, emotion expression strategies and children's emotional display objective. This research used the situation method and interview to analyze the developmental features of children's emotional display rales under the international stress situation. Synthesizing the relevant data of the research, the conclusions are as followings:(1) There is significant difference in the children's knowledge about expression regulation among the grades, and it shows that fifth grade>third grade>first grade. The first grade and third grade are the quick development stage and they are stable in the higher level after the third grade. Gender difference is significant in the children's knowledge about expression regulation, and girls have more knowledge about expression regulation than boys.(2) Naturalization are used by most students, second to it is masking, but exaggerating and weakening are used by few students. Naturalization has significant difference among grades, and it shows that fifth grade>third grade>first grade. Masking also has significant difference among grades, and it shows that fifth grade = third grade>first grade. However exaggerating and weakening have no significant difference among grades. Gender difference of masking is significant, and it shows that girls>boys. Gender difference of exaggerating is significant, and it shows that boys>girls. There is no gender difference in the naturalization and weakening.(3) children's emotional display objective includes that prosocial display rules, social criterion display rules and self-protect display rules. The prosocial display rules are reported more in the first and third grades than in the fifth grade. The children in the fifth grade prefer prosocial display rules. Prosocial display rules and social criterion display rules have significant difference among grades. The difference of prosocial display rules shows that fifth grade>third grade>first grade and the difference of social criterion display rules shows that third grade>fifth grade>first grade. Self-protect display rules have no significant difference. All of the three kinds of children's emotional display objectives have no gender difference.(4) Children's knowledge about expression regulation has situational difference, and it shows that restriction stress situation>adapt stress situation>frustration stress situation>compare stress situation>expectation stress situation. Furthermore children's knowledge about expression regulation has difference under the different situations. Children's knowledge about expression regulation in the higher grades has situational difference significantly. Under the situations which can arouse children's strong feelings, the goal of children's knowledge about expression regulation is higher.(5) Naturalization has no situational difference, and there is consistent across situations. The situational difference of masking is significant, and it shows that adapt stress situation>compare stress situation>expectation stress situation>restriction stress situation>frustration stress situation. The situational difference of exaggerating is significant, and it shows that frustration stress situation>restriction stress situation> adapt stress situation>expectation stress situation, compare stress situation. The situational difference of weakening is significant, and it shows that restriction stress situation>frustration stress situation>adapt stress situation>expectation stress situation, compare stress situation. Moreover the emotion expression strategies of different grades and different gender children have difference under the different international stress situations.(6) Prosocial display rules and self-report display rules all have situational difference. The situational difference of prosocial display rules shows that restriction stress situation>adapt stress situation>frustration stress situation>expectation stress situation, compare stress situation, and the situational difference of prosocial display rules shows that frustration stress situation>adapt stress situation>compare stress situation>restriction stress situation>expectation stress situation. Social criterion display rules have no situational significant. Moreover the children's emotional display objective of different grades and different gender has no situational difference.
