The Incompleteness Of Life And Salvation

Dong Xi is a writer full of humaneness, he is often thinking about living's fundamental incompleteness on the commonly ignored ground. His particular aesthetic perception can be found in his soulful description of living, the discovery of the incompleteness of living, and the depiction of tragic incompleteness with a little humor and salvation, etc. This paper tries to explain the theme of incompleteness of living through intensive critical reading of the text.The theme of the thesis is'incompleteness'. The prolegomenon is to give a general introduction to Dong Xi's works, some famous scholars have classified the research achievements about Dong Xi's works, and based on this I would like to give my intention. In the first part of this thesis, I made a definition of incompleteness of living derived from the integration of the west and east culture, the description of incompleteness in literature and the aesthetic meaning of incompleteness. In the second part, I introduced the relationship between the 1980s writers'and Dong Xi's awareness of incompleteness in their writings and the impact of Dong Xi's personal experience on his writings. The third part is to unscramble the objective imago of incompleteness in Dong Xi's works by intensive reading. In the fourth part, I made a stepwise analysis of the incompleteness of living and salvation from the aspect of the narrative of comedy, the sympathy for feelings, the saving of morality, and human's self-salvation, so as to find the unique value of Dong Xi's novel. Dong Xi has his unique understanding of dilemma of living; there are plenty of humanist thoughts in his writings, which lead a bright direction to human souls.
