The Legal Words And Expressions In Hanshu And Amendment To The Grand Dictionary Of Chinese Language

Along with Complication of law, in the Qin and Han Dynasty era law words and expressions developed rapidly,, the massive new word were created, the polysyllabic words and the fixed phrase appeared massively and were continue to use for a long time by the later generation, and the word meaning was refined and stable. The achievement in law obtains the record in Hanshu. In the situation which the law in Western Han Dynasty was lost and the related unearthed literature needed to be researched, the record in Hanshu is especially precious. As large-scale history book was written in the Eastern Han Dynasty, Hanshu has preserved lots of legal terms in Qin-han era and specific contexts and reflected the achievement of law's development. And Hanshu plays important role in identifying certain law language characteristics of that time, understanding the original law language of Han dynasty and discovering the rule of development of the language.This paper used Hanshu written by Ban Gu as a corpus, taking the research on legal words and expressions in the monograph as the foundation, comparing the Grand Dictionary of Chinese Language compiled in our country that included the most entries and dealt most scientifically with the phonetic notation, explaining, enumerating etc, to discover and correct some weakness in the dictionary in collecting words, interpreting the meaning and giving examples about the legal words of Hanshu. Through studied the Han History legal words and expressions and the revision of the grand dictionary of Chinese language, hoped to provide certain valuable material toward the compiles of ancient books and the research on Chinese glossary history, the legal linguistics and the Qin and Han Legal History.
