| The complexity of extreme complement of degree, which reflects in aspects of its category, predicate and differences in grammar, semantics and pragmatics, has confronted the teaching activity with enormous obstacles for a very long time. In order to reduce this kind of difficulty in Chinese Teaching as a Foreign Language, teachers should have a profound awareness towards it at the first place and put it in teaching activities skillfully and properly. At the same time, the acquisition condition of foreign students of extreme complement of degree should be analyzed and the correspondent advice be put forward according to the actual situation. By the means stated above, the difficulty will be reduced and students can master this grammatical item comprehensively, which is the base of this thesis.In this thesis, extreme complement of degree is studied as the object from the point of Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, of which category, grammatical structure, semantic and pragmatic characteristics are explored comprehensively. Also, its acquistion condition is analyzed in elementary phase and teaching advice is given based on this. The whole thesis can be divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction, which introduces the reason of the study, summary of study history and its method and process.The second part is the selection and category of extreme complement of degree. Inthis chapter, nineteen words are selected as extreme complement of degree, including" ji", "si", "tou", "huai", "hen", "budeliao" , " huang" , "lihai"and so on. Then, those nineteen words are categorized from the point of structure, level of expressive degree and the emotion embodiment, which helps us have a clear clue towards extreme complement of degree in grammatical, semantic and pragmatic aspects respectively.The grammatical characteristic of extreme complement of degree is discussed in the third part. It can be divided into the cohesive one and the combinative one, two of which are different with the common ground sharing. In this chapter, their common and respective grammatical characteristics are discussed together.In the fourth part, the semantic characteristic of extreme complement degree is studied. It is analyzed in detail and the relationship of semantic characteristics between extreme complement of degree and its predicates are explored as well. The semantic characteristic of extreme complement of degree not only defines its predicate extension but also restrict its expressive effect. Besides, every word of extreme complement of degree is analyzed from the angle of its semantics and the combination ability with the predicates.The grammatical characteristic of extreme complement of degree is discussed in the fifth part. The usage frequency order of 20 extreme complements of degree is listed by statistical analysis to the corpus. At the same time, different moods and stylistic effects with implicative meaning in different contexts are studied in this chapter with examples. The order worked out in this study can give great implications to the textbook compilation about extreme complement of degree and the special pragmatic function can help students understand and use it more properly.The last part is the acquisition and teaching of extreme complement of degree. In this chapter, the quantitative and qualitative analyses toward extreme complement of degree are carried out in the 500,000-word interlanguage corpus. The error analysis is carried out as well, through which the acquisition rule and problems are found out. Meanwhile, the macrocosmic and microcosmic advice is given to the actual teaching activity. |
