The Researsh Of "Mencius" Verb Meaning

Chinese word sense embodies the rich, profound information of traditional culture in the most directly way, especially the ancient one which has preserved the massive primitive information of Chinese culture. We can combine the rich theories and methods of processing lexical meaning in China's traditional Gloss and the achievement of modern semantics. Beginning with the ancient Chinese word sense, we can investigate some questions in the history of Chinese lexicon.This article attempts to focus on the Chinese language development foundation stage - - pre-Qin by using the sememe and its analysis theory, the semantic field theory in semantics and so on. Taking "Mencius" as the study object, a representative work in pre-Qin, it tries to find out the same semantic characteristics as well as the different ones of this kind of word through the induction of verb semantic position in the book, and then describes verb semantics system. Meantime, it utilizes semanteme analysis into the synonym discrimination and discusses the wording characteristics of verb synonym in "Mencius". And by comparison among the semantic positions in the same semantic field, it reveals the similarities and differences between Sememes made up by synonym semantic positions and recognizes the fine distinction between the synonym. I hope that by summarizing some technique research methods in this article, it can make a foreshadowing for the following development of ancient Chinese word sense research.
