| This thesis is based on a survey of the oral Chinese teaching and testing carried out at the School of Overseas Education, Soochow University, over a period of two semesters. The survey is analyzed for validity, reliability, discrimination, practicality and the back-wash effect of language testing. The errors generated by foreign students from different countries are analyzed and summarized in the areas of phonetics, lexicon, syntax and pragmatics. Suggestions for improving oral Chinese teaching are outlined in the thesis, with the aim of advancing oral Chinese teaching and strengthening oral language testing in theory and practice. |
