| Wang Wei, who occupies an important place in Chinese classical literature history, is the representative poet of Landscape Poems in flourishing Tang dynasty. Being called "Master of literature" by DaiZong, he not only had a high reputation in poetry at the time of Tang dynasty, but also got widespread attention and high praise of the poetry critics of successive generations. He, being given the title of "Buddha in poems", became a great poet who could be one of three rivals with Li Bai ("Immortal in poems") and Dufu ("History of poems") in Tang dynasty poetry. The title shows the Buddhist and religious tendency of his poems; as well as the successors' affirmation of his achievements. Wang Wei inherits Tao Yuanming and Xie Lingyun's Landscape Poetry and carries forward to make it achieve a new height. Wang Wei's poems are keeping fresh and vivid after such a long time, and he himself has already become the model of poetry, which is worth learning and researching. This thesis includes four parts:1. Introduction. Indicate Wang Wei's unique achievements and status in the Chinese classical poetry history by quoting the evaluations to him and his poems. The writer also made a general view of Wang Wei's works under the classification standard of contents and theme, and quoted his most famous landscape poems to pave the way to the following parts.2. The characteristic of Wang Wei's landscape poems. Relating to Buddhism, Wang Wei's poems are different from most of the landscape poets in these following aspects: 1, the integration of poem and painting. 2, the integration of self and no-self. 3, the integration of dynamic and static.3. The causes of the characteristic of Wang Wei's landscape poems. As to the characteristic of Wang Wei's landscape poems, the academia has already obtained consistency, but the causes of the characteristic are still in dispute. Since 1980s and 1990s, explaining the causes of Wang Wei's landscape poems by the concepts of "dialectical and comprehensive" has become the most popular in academia. We admit that the landscape poems of Wang Wei are related to Zen. But if we explain them from the standpoint of Zen completely, we certainly will blur the boundary between Wang Wei, a scholar-bureaucrat and the monks; and blur the differences between literary creation and religious practice. We believe that the cause of the characteristic of Wang Wei's landscape poems is the super- utilitarian aesthetic mentality. Besides, the up-and-coming time spirit of the flourishing Tang dynasty, the individual characteristics and gifts of Wang Wei are also important conditions. The most obvious evidence to show the difference between his view and the Buddhism lies in the relationship between Wang Wei and Buddhism, and the poems created by Wang Wei in Wang Chuan, especially those in Wang Chuan Poetry.4. Conclusion. From the analysis above, we can draw a conclusion that it is the super-utilitarian aesthetic mentality that played the most important role in the creation of Wang Wei's landscape poems. The acquirement of this kind of esthetic mentality has a close connection with his Buddhist belief, but can not be equated with it. This mentality is also the fruit of time spirit and individual gift and characteristic. Wang Wei's creation of landscape poems is tightly connected with the super-utility esthetic mentality. |
