Shi Jie (1005-1045 B.C) was a very important thinker in the early Northern Song dynasty, and was ranked as one of the "three important scholars", whose moral article was well known even today. Based on Shi Jie's life, works and thoughts, this dissertation aims to discuss his system of thoughts.The system of Shi Jie's thoughts was made of two parts. One was based on the knowledge of nature, society and life, which was also basic concept of Shi Jie's thoughts. "Dao","Qi","Zhi" were the source of Shi Jie's thoughts. "Dao" is the main aspect of society. "Qi" is made of life features of the nature and human. "Zhi" is the political method of pre-king and retro method. The political method of pre-king was the mode of social ideal that was made by Shi Jie. All of Shi Jie's thoughts include political thoughts, arts thoughts, and education thoughts, history thoughts and others stem from all. The other basic knowledge is the format from politics, arts, education and history. As an traditional intellectual, Shi Jie observed lots of Phenomena bout early Northern Song's politics, economy, society and culture and thus he drew his conclusions. Shi Jie built the system of classicism. Those thoughts were based on society and did his best to solve the problems of society. Shi Jie built his ideal blueprint of society. We can see that Shi Jie has a very strong quality of fortitude and was concerned about the society as a Confucianist. The thoughts of Shi Jie about the politics, education, arts, history and so on were also based on the "Dao", "Qi", "Zhi".The formation of Shi Jie's thoughts could be accounted for some special reasons in economy, society, culture and individual. The historical reason of Shi Jie's thoughts was the Northern Song's which period was characterized by its constraintness and conservativeness. One of the cultural reasons was Confucian's ideals and the other was the regionalism of Qilu. Shi Jie's thoughts were also affected by his friends. The internal cause was attributed to Shi Jie's individual character.Shi Jie's thoughts are still of great significance nowadays.
