Cartoon has played a more and more important role in the culture communication and in the social economy at present, as an important form of media art. The Japanese comic and animation has become to occupy the top position among the cartoon world with decades of years development. The Japanese comic and animation has the biggest market share and dominated this field. Based on a former survey, it indicates that there are 60% cartoon programs all over the world made in Japan, which has developed so many fans spreading each corner of the earth. In China, a survey among the elementary, secondary and college students indicates that more than 80% students are fans of the Japanese comic and animation. This figure means not only the economy market loses, but it also means the lost of the national spirit. Although the skills of making cartoon programs in China have been developed so much with a decade of year's development, since 1995, when the Chinese government enacted measures to help develop Chinese cartoon industry, the contents are not popular. This result leads to continuous loses of domestic market share. This thesis has 5 parts. The first part introduces the concepts of cartoon, the current status, and the sense of the research in this thesis. The second part introduces the Japanese comic and animation status, mainly in literature and art fields. The third part analyses the characteristics of the Japanese comic and animation world communication at the beginning; then analyses the history of its communication in China; next the main reason of the Japanese comic and animation is analyzed. The fourth part researches the existing problems of Chinese cartoon, and concludes the inspiration of the development of Chinese cartoon in the future, based on the Japanese comic and animation successful experience.
