The Research About The Relationship Between Social Support And Psychological Help-seeking

Social support is an important factor that affects the mental health of university students; Psychological help-seeking is a specialized way that the university students seek help to the specialized psychological consultation personnel to solve psychological puzzles. This paper's main points is to study the situations of university students'social support and psychological help-seeking , and the relationship between the both, aiming at providing some enlightenment to the university psychological educator in university students'psychological education and the counseling work, guiding the university students to fully utilize the social support and the specialized psychological consultation, and promoting university students'psychological health.Based on the research literature of psychological help-seeking and social support, choosing a random sample of 277 university students of Huazhong University of Science and Technology, using Social Support Rate Scale and the questionnaire of Seeking Professional Psychological Help, the researcher make an exploratory analysis on the university students'situation of social support and Psychological help-seeking, as well as the relationship between the social support and psychological help-seeking.The results indicated that, University students'social support situation is good, and there are no significant differences in the major, the origin and whether only child aspects. However, there are differences in the sex and the grade. As for situation of the University students'Psychological help-seeking, there are no significant differences in the gender, the major and the grade. However, there are differences in the origin. Students of social support and psychological help-seeking are negatively correlated, in other words, if the university students'have good situation of social support , they will not inclined to seek psychological help.This study is mainly to understand the university students'situation of social support and psychological help-seeking, as well as make a descriptive analysis of the relationship between the both. According to the findings of the study and related literature, analyze the research results and future study.
