Spatial structure of traditional village formed in China history holds connotation of geographic space and social space. From the perspective of village social-cultural history, the dissertation taking Xiamei village as a case, integrates the regional background, analyses the spatial structure of Xiamei village and discloses the developmental mechanism and cultural connotation. The spatial structure of Xiamei village has experienced a process of forming and changing through Ming and Qing period, which has direct relationship with population immigration, development of lineages, ritual activities and the market of Wuyi tea. Especially in the period of Ming and Qing, on the background that north Fujian mountainous area and Wuyi tea possessed of flourishing global market, lineages, folk belief and market interacted and formed the spatial style and social-cultural connotation of Xiamei village. This dissertation includes seven chapters, about 60,000 words. The content of each chapter is as following:Chapter 1 introduces the academic history, puts forward the issue consciousness and research ideas, and interprets the analysis route, framework and resources.Chapter 2 reviews the location and environment of Xiamei village, concerns its historical status in the evolution of administration, and introduces the regional background of history and geography.Chapter 3 starts at the village sight, and studies the unitary composition of Xiamei village and the spatial distributing of various sights, like houses, ancestral halls, temples, streets and stores.Chapter 4 stresses on the population transition and the development of the lineages of Xiamei village history, especially Ming and Qing period, analyses the population growing, sustenance model, lineages activities and position in the community of all lineages immigrated in during different periods.Chapter 5 focuses on the folk belief and ritual activities of Xiamei village, considering the temples spatial structure.Chapter 6 stresses on the regional market transition of north Fujian, the flourish and decline of Xiamei village which had a close relation with regional market. Meanwhile, it interprets the effects on the forming and developing of Xiamei village.Chapter 7 concludes the dissertation, explores the history relationship between the lineages, folk beliefs, market factors and the spatial structure of Xiamei village. In the end, it points out the developmental mechanism and historical connotation of Xiamei village.
