| Cooperative learning is a theoretic strategic system which is based on the interaction between students and teachers and in accordance with group evaluation and group reward, which has heterogeneous group as its basic organizing form and focuses on multilateral interaction so as to promote the development of students' cooperation consciousness and cooperation skills to improve their cognitive level.For a long time, the whole class teaching model has been playing a dominant role in today's higher vocational college. Some students are not interested in studying English. This thesis is based on the theories of cooperative learning. By the practice and application of cooperative learning strategies in the nursing speciality of higher vocational college, it aims to explore the general method patterns and strategies of cooperative learning in the higher vocational English teaching. It is also expected to explore the effectiveness of the implementation of cooperative learning in higher vocational general English teaching and to activate students' interest in English learning, improve students' autonomous learning, cooperative ability and comprehensive abilities of English so as to promote the English teaching and learning of higher vocational college.What's more, after cooperative learning is operated on the students, the analysis will be done on the effect of the English learning interest, attitudes and grades by some experimental ways such as observation, questionnaires, interview, class practising and data analysis. All the data yield the findings.1. The experimental class outperformed the controlled class and significant difference has been found between them. Learners' English proficiency in the experimental class improved whereas the level of the controlled class did not. Therefore, cooperate learning has positive effects on improving the learners' English proficiency.2. As for the language learning motivation, cooperative learning arouses learners' desire to learn the language. There exists obvious difference between the two classes of students.3. The learners' attitude towards cooperative learning is mainly positive. Most of the learners in the experimental class have a preference for cooperative learning.The thesis proves that cooperative learning is effective in improving learner's English academic achievement, language learning motivation and the cooperative ability. |
