Listening comprehension (LC) has been a focus of teaching foreign language for many years. And many linguists and foreign experts also believe that foreign language learning must be started from"listening". In recent years, there has been a multitude of reform efforts in English teaching in China. The focus of research has been shifted from traditional"classroom-based"teaching to"multi- environment learning".The College English Curriculum Requirements advocated and emphasized that the new listening teaching model should be built on modern information, particularly network technology to meet the needs of reality. Therefore, how to design the scientific listening teaching model, which is the major concern in the reform of listening teaching, is the topic that needs to be discussed.The thesis focuses on the research of web-based college English autonomous listening teaching and learning model. This theme is proposed from the enlightenment of the former practice and concepts. Based on the understanding of English listening teaching situation, we have made a research and teaching attempt on web-based college English autonomous listening teaching theoretically and practically, which is in line with four learning theories, constructivist learning theory, autonomous learning theory, schema theory and intrinsic learning theory. The innovation of this thesis lies in the objective design of college English autonomous listening teaching and learning under the internet circumstances.Since the web-based autonomous listening teaching and learning model have been formed, we proceed to the relevant teaching experiment. It includes the survey questionnaire and individual interview taken by 195 college students of Jiangxi Normal University, and designing a static learning web page of University English Listening Learning website with Dream weaver 8.0 software. The results of experiment and the analysis of questionnaire and interview have shown that the web-based autonomous listening teaching and learning model meet the students'learning and psychological needs. We conclude that it is practical and valuable to popularize the web-based autonomous listening teaching and learning model at college. What's more, in order to improve multimedia English teaching, it is most urgent that we should arouse the awareness of making use of the network technology in English teaching and learning of both teacher and students so as to enhance their ability of conducting network technology.
