Ta-chin-te-sheng-to-sung-pei, the 3.20-meter-high statue, was set up on July 28th, 1185 with Chinese characters on the front side and Nuzhen Characters on the back side, commemorating the victory of Jin Kingdom over Liao kingdom led by Wanyan Aguda. The statue is not only a milestone in the development of Nuzhen ethnic group, but also a witness of how Chinese people created the multinational culture collectively. The statue has been mentioned in many works in both China and abroad, but there is no adequate research conducted on it. With the passage of time, the characters on the statue has decayed and become unrecognizable, so researchers have to record the contents of the statue by guesses sometimes, which makes it even harder for later scholars to make research on it. This is the major reason why the research on the statue has been slowed down.Up to now, there are more than 50 works about the statue, and a large number of them are conducted by Japanese scholars. Japanese scholars are more experienced in material collecting; some of them even have photos of the statue and the characters on the statue, which provide adequate materials on the research of the statue. By their research, they have contributed a lot to the cultural exchange between Japan and China. The writer of this thesis intends to give a field work examination of the statue, then give a summary of the researches on the statue conducted by Chinese and Japanese scholars with a view of offering a current research condition."By other's faults, wise men correct their own."As one part of modern cultural exchange between Japan and China, the study of different perspectives on Ta-chin-te-sheng-to-sung-pei between Japanese and Chinese scholars is of great significance for later research. The thesis is made up of following parts:Chapter one tells the initiative of the writing of the thesis.Chapter two introduces the significance of the study on the statue.Chapter three presents, compares and contrasts the research results on the statue by Japanese and Chinese scholars.Chapter four focuses on misunderstandings of Chinese and Japanese scholars on the statue.Chapter five is the conclusion, summarizing the major points of the thesis.
