Hyperactivity Disorder has been studied extensively by researchers from cognitive development, developmental psychiatry, paediarics, etc. However, there are still a lot of controversies around psychopathological issues. Hyperactivity Disorder is one of the most serious public health issues which occur in adolescence. Hyperactivity Disorder decreased Children's functioning in social adaptiveness. Self-esteem is one of the psychological factors that protecte children's health.The sample of this research included the children with Hyperactivity Disorder and normal children. The purpose of the research was to explore the development of the self-esteem and social adaptiveness of children with Hyperactivity Disorder in order to create an appropriate social support system in the further research and education. The research was based onSES, IAT and SAS-SSS. The main results showed:(1) Children with Hyperactivity Disorder have implicit self-esteem. There is marginal significant difference in explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem between Children with Hyperactivity Disorder and normal children.(2) There is no significant correlation between explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem.The results suggest explicit self-esteem and implicit self-esteem are two different independent systems.(3) The explicit self-esteem of boys with Hyperactivity Disorder is significantly higher than that of girls with Hyperactivity Disorder.But there is no significant difference in implicit self-esteem betweem boys and girls.(4) There is a significantly positive correlation between explicit self-esteem and social adaptiveness.Social sdaptiveness changes as explicit self-esteem changes.(5) Children with Hyperactivity Disorder who have lower explicit self-esteem report decreased their functioning in social adaptiveness than that of children with Hyperactivity Disorder who have higher explicit self-esteem. Besides, children with secure high self-esteem have higher social adaptiveness than that of children with defensive self-esteem.In conclusion, compared with normal children, children with Hyperactivity Disorder have lower social adaptiveness. Besides, children with Hyperactivity Disorder who have higher explicit self-esteem have higher social adaptiveness than those with lower explicit self-esteem.
