A defensive alliance-system which lead by Athens open to cities and dynasts whose motive was to ensure that Sparta respect the freedom and autonomy guaranteed by the King's Peace in 378/377BC.It's foundation involved converting several exsiting bilateral alliance into system which eventually offerd special rights;a deliberative assembly(synhedrion),no internal political interference, tribute,governors,or garrisons,and no cleruchy or private Athenian property-ownership within allied states.Starting with the six members,the league burgeoned in 3783~73BC.In 375/4BC Sparta conceded that the league did not infringe autonomy.The rebellion of the Byzantium,Chios,and Rhodes in 357~355BC unsusppressed thanks to military failure.The league was dismantled after the creation of the Corinthian League in 338BC.This theis is divided into five parts totally,which respectivily introduce the founding,organization,social war and dismantled of the league.The first part is the preface.In it the research survey both at home and abroad is reviewed.The second part is introduce both home and abroad position of politic and economic after the peloponnese war.The third part is organization of the league:the decree of Arostoteles,running of the league and the relationship between the Athens and the allies.The fourth part is the process of the Social War and the dismantled of the league.The five part is the comment on the league's nature and history position.
