| As a famous Danish novelist,Jussi Adler-Olsen’s series of Department Q novels are best-sellers in Denmark as well as in other European countries or USA,however,his novels have been rarely translated into Chinese for publication.Therefore,the report chooses to translate his works The Washington Decree so that we can better understand and disseminate Olsen’s thoughts and literary achievements in China.In addition,it also helps to strengthen friendly cultural exchanges between China and the Nordic countries.The Washington Decree is a suspense novel written by Olsen.By narrating an unexpected murder on the night of the US presidential election,this novel leads people to the scene to understand the truth and explain the suspense involved in the application of scientific methods through the description of various characters and scenes when the murder happened.The report focuses on communicative translation theory as the guiding principle of translation practice project,in which appropriate translation strategies,use of appropriate words,inversion of word order,division of sentences and so on,are selected as a way to analyze important and difficult points.Through the practice analysis,the author put emphasis on the proper shift between source language and target language,trying to retain the original work with suspense effect while considering the readers’ reading reaction.On finishing the translation practice,the author conducts several careful reviews on the translation to ensure that the translation is smooth and fluent,conforming to what the original author intends to express. |
