The Study Of The Position Words "Qian","Hou" And Their Related Words

In Chinese studies, international students always find it rather difficult to use the position words and their related words.It concerns mainly two questions:on one hand, whether there are rules to replace the position words with their related ones; on the other hand, whether the related words themselves have certain rules to replace each other. Both two questions need us to dig into the use of the position words. This paper focuses on the use of the position words "qian","hou" and their related words, bases itself on the Corpus to describe a large quantity of the language phenomenon and therefore seek the rules in use. This paper contains seven parts:Part one introduced the significance, the background and the technique of the research.Part two studies the use of the position words "qian" and "hou" and describe their syntactic and semantic characteristics.Part three studies the use of the related words "yiqian","zhiqian","qianmian","qianbian","qiantou","qianfang","genqian","mianqian".Part four generalize the rules of "qian" and its related words, based on the previous parts.Part five studies the use of the related words "yihou","zhihou","houmian","houbian","houtou","houfang","wanghou".Part six generalize the rules of "hou" and its related words, based on the previous parts.Part seven is the summary of the whole paper.
