In order to correct the shortcomings of flimsy calligraphy style caused by Tie School in Southern Song Dynasty, Zhao Mengfu, as the calligraphy leader of Yuan Dynasty, led the calligraphy altar to enter a "retro" era. "Two Wang as ancestor of calligraphy", became the mainstream consciousness of the calligraphy altar in Yuan Dynasty. Influenced by Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy style, calligraphers pursued Zhao's style, aesthetic perception gradually blurred, the calligraphy altar fell into the shortcomings of flimsy calligraphy style again. But at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, Yang Weizhen's "Peculiar" calligraphy style became a dark horse. He had extraordinary knowledge, elegant tolerance, in the premise of following tradition without being restricted by tradition. His "Peculiar" calligraphy style injected new vitality to the boring calligraphy altar of Yuan Dynasty, and indirectly influenced the development of romantic expressionism calligraphy style in Ming and Qing Dynasties. This paper is divided into three parts, in chapter one, by the analysis of Yang Weizhen's calligraphy works of different periods, extracted a large number of exemplifications of lines, composition and using of Chinese ink. Based on the exemplifications, beginning with tiny manifestations for detailed, deep research results. At the same time, with comprehensive analysis, comparison of calligraphy works on behalf of Yang Weizhen, we expected to sum up his "Peculiar" calligraphy style and its constitution. In chapter two, putting Yang Weizhen in the cultural context of the Yuan Dynasty, in order to obtain the ideological, theoretical origins of his "Peculiar" calligraphy style. In chapter three, from the breakthrough of Yang Weizhen's "Peculiar" calligraphy style to Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy style, the influence to development of Zhangcao calligraphy in early Ming and the promotion to romantic expressionism calligraphy style in Ming Dynasty, there's an explanation of the influence of Yang Weizhen's calligraphy style. In this paper, with the three-part analysis, we expect to be able to solve these following questions:first, why could Yang Weizhen can bravely innovate and form different "Peculiar" calligraphy style against the background of domination by Zhao Mengfu's calligraphy style, and what constitution and ideological, theoretical origins does his unique calligraphy style have? Second, why Yang Weizhen had such a huge impact in the literature, but few people mentioned him in the calligraphy history of Ming and Qing Dynasties? Third, what's the true influence to the calligraphy of Ming and Qing Dynasties by Yang Weizhen's calligraphy style? Fourth, what's the true status of Yang Weizhen in the calligraphy history? By solving the above four questions, we can restore the accurate historical image of Yang Weizhen.
