With the rapid growth of Christianity, Christian disputes occurred frequently in the beginning of the Twentieth Century. Because of the disputes, Ch'ing Government and Western powers carried out treaty negotiations, church legal case negotiations and church affair negotiations. These negotiations reveal social features of that time and diplomatic practical situation of Ch'ing Government in different aspects. Whatever past or present, the propagation of Christianity in China was faced or is facing prodigious controversy. To investigate the past Christian diplomatic negotiations deeply is beneficial to dealing with present Christian problem.
