Since 1970s', language teaching research has shifted from focusing on teachers to focusing on learners. Learners'beliefs have a profound influence on learning behaviors and learning outcomes. So it is necessary for learners to reflect on their own language learning beliefs. The study attempts to undertake a comprehensive investigation into college English learning beliefs from social constructivist perspective. The subjects are 205 sophomore non-English majors from North China Electric Power University. Differences between high and low achievers are explored. A correlation study is also conducted between college English learning beliefs and English proficiency. The pedagogical implications of this study are given for college teachers to understand the present situation of students'language learning beliefs.
