Research On Preservation And Expression Of Grand Canal Of China In Kaifeng City

In aims of the conservation of canal heritage, the research selected the heritage of Grand Canal of Sui-Tang in Kaifeng as the main object. In case of The Grand Canal of China is about to apply for the World Cultural Heritage, as the basic research of the conservation work, the thesis serves as theoretical support for the protection planning which is about to carry out. Sui-Tang Canal that my thesis going to discess is a canal system that widly ranged on time and space. Sui-Tang Canal is an important part of canal system of China, which created a brilliant achievement on Chinese shipping history. Sui-Tang Canal started at Sui dynasty, but gived its strengths to the Song Dynasty. As the water transport support of the urban economy, Kaifeng was once the most prosperous capital at that time. Kaifeng, the history of the rise and decline of the city depended largely on the recession in the developement of the canal. Therefore, my thesis will integrate the canal with the city to explore the large-scale linear cultural heritage.First of all, as the basis surpport for conservation planning, my thesis sorted out the history of canal heritage in Kaifeng, and the geography and literature, summarized Canal and its historical context of Kaifeng city, and their deep inner connection. The paper determined the heritage's value and its composition. Secondly, according to historical records, the paper combined with field investigations and studies, history, science, art evaluation system. My Thesis assessment the comprehensive value of its canal system; Moreover, the thesis identified heritage protected content of the heritage of Sui-Tang Canal in Kaifeng by in-depth survey and evaluation; Finally, the paper established the principle of protection, constructed the protection framework, formulated the develop protection strategies. On this basis, the canal section of the Kaifeng various heritage protection division of the development of factor analysis, ultimately made the best types of canal heritage protection, and measured the development relevant regulations, protection measures and environmental management.The paper analyzed this type of heritage protection challenges and opportunities, and gave the discussion to the plan.
