Objective To compare the effect of source memory and item memory in OCD patients and normal, to compare the effect of source memory and item memory in OCD patients in the different responsibility conditions, and to test whether the impairment of item memory and source memory has correlation to the grades of obsessive-compulsive symptoms.Method Establishing the high and low experimental conditions, we tested participants including 35 OCD patients and 35 normal persons in item memory task and source memory task. The YALE—BROWN is employed for assessing the symptoms of OCD patients.Result The performances of item memory and source memory in OCD patients(IM,LR:0.81±0.16,HR:.73±0.20) (SM,LR:0.86±0.12,HR:0.85±0.15) were significantly lower than that in normal persons(IM,LR:0.90±0.07,HR:0.84±0.10) (SM,LR:0.95±0.07,HR:0.92±0.06)(P's <0.05).The performance of item memory in OCD patients(LR:0.81±0.16 vs HR: 0.73±0.20) in the high responsibility condition were significantly lower than that in the low responsibility condition(P's <0.01),but this performance (LR:0.86±0.13 vs HR: 0.85±0.15)does not appear in source memory(P's =0.63).The performances of item memory and source memory in OCD patients (IM,LR:0.80±0.09 vs HR: 0.65±0.17)(SM,LR:0.84±0.12vs HR:0.67±0.20)of high score group in RAS in the high responsibility condition were significantly lower than that in the low responsibility condition(P's <0.05).The impairment of item memory and source memory has no correlation to the grades of obsessive-compulsive symptoms. Conclusion Item memory and source memory in OCD patients have impairment compared with normal. Memory performance of OCD patients has been found to be more affected in the high responsibility condition. Memory performance of the OCD patients who perceive more responsibility has manifested more obvious impairment.
