A Research On Chinese Character Proficiency And Test

Chinese character is one of the most precious and glamorous part of Chinese culture, which is also an integral part of Chinese language as well as Chinese culture. One's Chinese language proficiency has close relation to Chinese character proficiency. And it is also known to all that teaching and studying Chinese character is one of most difficult part in teaching Chinese as second language. Aware as we are, we has the tendency to neglect the cultivation of Chinese character which hasn't enjoy the attention from both learners and teachers for a long time.In this thesis, we try to analyze the links between Chinese language and Chinese character, which help to explain the importance of studying Chinese character. Furthermore, the concept of Chinese character proficiency is put forward and explained in details. We hope the concept of Chinese character proficiency can attract the attention of the society.We also introduce Japanese Chinese Character Proficiency Test, the Chinese character part both in Japanese Language Proficiency Test and China's HSK in hope of provoking the thoughts of the exam-makers. And we try to give some suggestions as well. One day, we can have a perfect Chinese character proficiency test of our own.
