Along with the rapid expansion of computer network information technology, reading has also had the revolutionary change: the extension from printed texts to hypertexts; from the linear order to the nonlinear order; from traditional printed text-related reading to computer network reading. It's proved by some related studies that the commonly used strategies in printed text-related reading are also suitable for computer network reading. While, due to some unique features of computer network, there are still some differences in strategy application between these two modes of reading. After the author's retrieval in full text database of CNKI, it's found that there has been actually existed serious gap pertaining to non-English major graduates'reading strategies in CALL environment since 2000. However, it has become a common phenomenon for non-English major graduates to do English for Academic Purposes (EAP) reading in CALL environment since the 21st century. Then how is their application of strategies in CALL environment?The main purpose of this paper is to investigate non-English major graduates'application of out-of-class EAP reading strategies in CALL environment and the factors influencing their strategies use. That is, when non-English major graduates conduct out-of-class EAP reading in CALL environment, what strategies are frequently used and what strategies are less frequently used; what are the differences between different English proficiency learners'strategy application and what are the factors influencing their strategies use? In order to fulfill the research aims, the paper adopts a combination of quantitative and qualitative techniques.The questionnaire results are as follows. First, non-English major graduates'overall application of out-of-class EAP reading strategies is medium in frequency. Second, there is no significant strategy application difference between high English proficiency (HEP) learners and low English proficiency (LEP) learners, and the author explores the reason specifically in light of this. Finally, some factors are got from the open question part, and they are eye strain, split-screen barrier, attention distraction, network lost and note-taking difficulties. The research results of online interview are in line with the results of questionnaire basically.As a tentative study, the paper investigates and discusses non-English major graduates'application of out-of-class EAP reading strategies in CALL environment, the differences between different English proficiency learners'strategy application and the factors influencing their strategy use. It is hoped that this paper will direct English teachers, researchers and non-English major graduates'attention into this scope, which can finally promote the instruction of non-English major graduates'EAP reading.
