A Study On Musical Characteristic Of The Five Major Tunes In Southern Shandong Province

This thesis aims to study the five major tunes in southern Shandong province. First part serves as the introduction of geographic and cultural background which give birth to the five major tunes. The second part will carefully study the origin, musical formation and protection of the five major keys through literary materials, internet, information given by experts and folk artists as well as the analysis of its musical structure. By doing so, the writers purpose is to find a more effective way to inherit and protect the five major tunes.Besides the introduction and conclusion part, this thesis can be devided into five chapters.Chapter one: The geographic and cultural background of the five major tunes. The southern part of Shandong province especially Linyi and Rizhao city worked as an important transportation center which gave a profound impact on its musical form. Besides its local musical character, the five major tunes in southern Shandong province also possesses the elegance of southern musical style.Chapter two: origin of the five major tunes. By studying the origin of five labeled melody of the five major tunes especially the labeled melody"The River All Red", the writer aims to find out the origin of the five major tunes before its entering Shandong and other musicalities of the same clan.Chapter three: musical formation of the five major tunes. This part includes the performing way, accompanying instrument and the singing way. The five major tunes in southern Shandong mainly have two forms: singing by siting and chorus. The major accompanying instruments are erhu, the three-stinged, the bamboo flute, the plate, chopsticks, small wine cup and so on. The way of saying which is mellow and full with little words mainly have the decorative function.Chapter four: musical structure of the five major tunes. As the most important part, the writer will analyse the musical structure of"four expectations"in"The River All Red"and the five major tunes"Huarong Path"by different ways and then give a detailed study of the musial structure of the five major tunes.Chapter five: the inheritance and protection of the five major tunes. On the verge of extinction, the five major tunes has won the attention from local govermant which has taken some effective measures to protect them. For example, establish a group to reasonably protect and develop the five major tunes in southern Shandong province. Establish a research center. It has published《Tanma folk literature album·Ballad volume》which include most of the five major tunes in southern Shandong province. Gradually introduce the five major tunes to universities.
