The harm which the material civilization brings to the society has become the focal point which the society pays attention now. This novel, "War", criticize the material civilization. The primary coverage of this novel is the material, and it has the obvious"defamiliarization"characteristic in the means of expression.This article mainly carries on the elaboration from four parts: The first chapter mainly studies war's"defamiliarization". The war in the novel is different from the significance of traditional war, and the war here is between the material and humanity. The war has the different mode to display in the novel, it sometimes appears by its true self, and sometimes it is also very fuzzy, sometimes it is clear to the concrete material, thus the"defamiliarization"characteristic appeares.
