In the recording studio there are many factors that may affect voice quality, such as recording source, recording field, pickup system, recording system, monitoring system, recording engineer and so on. This paper tries to address this topic by analyzing the impact of microphone and Mic preamp on sound quality in the studio recording through the detailed analysis of the recordings of pipa, bamboo flute, erhu and dulcimer. With the application of frequency domain and integrated platform of baseband spectrum which belongs to objective analysis system and the application of objective parameters such as harmonics, frequency response, sound energy, the Root-Mean-Square and the application of subjective evaluation system of sound quality, the paper tries to analyze, compare and study at the same time the impact of microphone and Mic preamp on sound quality. This paper only intends to study the impact of microphone and Mic preamp on sound quality from the perspective of sound effect with no specific analysis on the artistry of instrumental performance.This paper is divided into five parts. The first part is about sound quality. It introduces sound elements, sound transmission, sound quality, objective elements of sound quality, and the factors affecting sound quality in studio recording. The second part mainly introduces evaluation methods of sound quality, including the subjective evaluation of sound quality and the platform of objective analysis. The third and fourth parts are the key parts of this paper. The third part introduces in details the impact of microphone on sound quality in studio recording. In this part, the paper analyzes and studies respectively the recordings of pipa, bamboo flute, erhu and dulcimer which operate under different microphones while connected with the same Mic preamp. The fourth part introduces in details the impact and its manifestation of Mic preamp on sound quality in studio recording. In this part, the paper analyzes respectively the recordings of pipa, bamboo flute, erhu and dulcimer which operate under different Mic preamps while connected with the same microphone. The last part is a conclusion. By summing up the data obtained through tests, it draws some conclusions.
