In the last century, the anti-hierarchy character of carnival and free life-attitude had been interpreted thoroughly in Bakhtin's Carnival Theory. Nowadays, in the 21st century, the folk culture in that theory, as an important part of carnival and lower culture in the market, its deep connotation has been incarnated once again in the productions of the movie producers whose leader is Feng Xiaogang.Feng's culture belongs to folk culture in the popular culture, and has the folk characters in the conditions of new civilian society. This culture keeps the spirit of Wangshuo, while tenuates, even deletes the consciousness of over anti-convention and anti-mainstream in Wang's production. The elite culture stand has been melted in this culture. The balance between those two parts has been got and a new kind of civilian saying has been established. On the precondition of obeying the market discipline and getting the commercial confirmation, Feng's characteristic new year movie brand has appeared and welcomes the dawn of hope for the developing Chinese movie.There are six parts in this dissertation, the introduction interpreted that the Feng's new year movie, as a kind of happy movie, can provide audiences the happiness which breaks all hierarchies and taboos, just like that kind of happiness in the carnival. In the'carnival style laughing', a kind of most conservative little civilian emotion—middle class emotion can be expressed, and the really existing values and psychological trend in the living space for modern people can be described.The first chapter gives a survey of background of Fengxiaogang movie and the developing history of the movie industry since the reform and open, including the scar movie and reflection movie, the forth generation documentary style creation, the fifth generation as a group gave a certain impact to Chinese movie circle, the sixth generation director characterization. and the production of new generation director which expressed the loneliness and anxiety of living and highlighted the ego. Until now, the China movie market is still being harassed by the dilemma of culture and market. In front of the strong international competitor and depression of culture movie market, the Chinese business movie needs urgently a developing road which can fit its own characters. The second chapter, with the opportunity of transformation of China social culture and economical structure since 90s, under the background that the changing and turbulence of people's economical positions created a new civilian society, in addition to the influence of intellectual elite culture of Wangshuo, using the leading talking power from the civilianization in 90s , Fengxiagang thoroughly dug some basic instinct and desire of current Chinese civilian class and fulfilled them in a game-attitude which is liked by the civilian class, and then gets a kind of carnival.The establishment of market economy gave the Chinese movie market the unprecedented opportunity, Feng identified the developing direction of business movie, emphasized the business box office, strictly grasped the location of the audiences and characters of popular culture, using a reasonable marketing operation, combined the brand of movie and the brand of enterprise tightly, made a lot of creations in the publishing and selling of market. Using the help of the period of golden new year, Feng's movie becomes extreme box-office appealing big brand industry after director Zhangyimoou and Chenkaige.The third chapter emphasize the character of typification and indicated that trying to completing the typificaion of movie,the Feng's movie matches the basic requirement of successful business movie, with the Peking style language, mild comedic mocking and Geyou's qualitative performance.The forth chapter interprets that as an indispensable factor in Chinese culture industry, the developing Chinese movie is puzzling and exploiting. When the fifth generation and their movie production attracted the international attention and won the prize several times, they had to face poor box-office in domestic market, what is the goal of movie creation? The Chinese movie hovers around the edge of art and business, only through transforming the movie from propaganda to artwork, then from artwork to culture merchandize, the new creation and development could happen. At the same time, the technical innovation of movie production should be emphasized to fit the need of international competition and reduce the production costs. New cinema line should be established and creative connotation should be taken in future's production, then the Chinese movie could find a way to survive in the tense competition of international movie market.The conclusion generalize that, in the special Chinese reality, the success of feng's movie could be interpreted as:the movie could be recognized as a kind of art, a kind of culture production. When learning the predecessors'successfully exploiting in movie market and optimization of economical profit, we should break the old mechanism and try to get the balance between author and public, emphasize the entertainment and business character of movie, utilize the advantage of new technology, accept the multi existing status of movie in an open attitude. With the preservation, innovation and deepening of realistic creation concept, the exploiting of movie commercialization and art concept should begin.
