At the time of entering 21st century, while we look closely at circumstances of enterprises, we have found that the enterprises are facing an existence crisis. This crisis is characterized by the universality instead of individuality . The examples of the crisis occur in China and all of the world everyday, such as bankruptcy, depletion, annex, coalition and separation of enterprises. They can not succeed in escaping from the above mentioned cases no matter whether small or large, and conventional or rising. Those eternal enterprises have not existed.Power equipment manufacture industry also confronts the situation. Dongfang Electrical Machinery Company Limited (hereinafter referred to as "DFEM") has been emerged from the womb of State-run enterprise, and has not made any changes in its management mechanism. Which strategy and policy shall we adopt in order to win the chance in the tide of integration of market economy and global economy, and keep the long-term development of enterprise when facing the complex and varied internal and external environment as well as the forceful competitors? This is the answer that the author wants to find in the article. The article has briefly reviewed the growing course of the Dongfang Electrical Machinery Co., Ltd., in which the general characteristics and the problems faced by the enterprise have been raised.This article begins with the survey of energy resources, and illustrates the maximum limit of the energy resources usage. Through the analysis of developing status of energy and electricity in China, and according to the policy and plan of electric power construction established by the Chinese government, they show that the demanding potential of electricity market is huge from the point of view of the short-term and long-term.On the basis of analysis of five kinds of basic competitive forces of the electric power equipment manufacture industry and competitive capability of DFEM's self, the article has put forward that the enterprise shall select more concentrated strategy, and has raised some ideas with respect to innovation,organization cost, resources, and competitive strategy between enterprises.Because the electric power equipment manufacture industry is a rising industry instead of sunsetting one, priority in the competitive strategy of the enterprise shall bend to do its business better, and improve core competitive power through innovating, adjusting organization, resource usage and reducing the cost, etc.
