Our country has a large population and the per capita cultivated land lacks. The cultivated land is of low quality. The safe problem of grain is outstanding. Improving cultivated land quality and guaranteeing the grain yield of the basic farmland is an important action that our country solves the safe problem of grain. The outcopped areas of the limestone in our country are vast. Natural conditions are special in these areas and the agricultural production conditions are bad and the grain yield is not high, which cause peasant's living standard to be relatively low. How make the masses of people in karst area break away from poverty, which become an important difficult problem of solving poverty in our country. The land consolidation can improve the local agricultural production condition and the ecological environment and the living standard of local peasants with renovating on water, way, forest and village.Combining land consolidation practice carried on in karst area, the current situation and matching of water and land resource in karst area are analyzed in this paper. On the basis of it, the thinking of the engineering design of the land consolidation in the karst area is put forward.The whole text is divided into five parts:First part: Sketch thesis selected title background and meaning and summarize study emphasis of the thesis. Afterwards, Present land consolidation situation in our country and land consolidation meaning in southwest karst district are discussed. Onthe basis, the thinking and method of the thesis are explain briefly.Second part: The relevant theories about land consolidation of karst are explained. This is the theoretical foundation of the whole text.The third part : The land consolidation situation in Chongqing is analyzed. The natural and social and economic condition in Chongqing are introduced at first; Secondly, from three aspects which is improving the regional agricultural production condition in karst district and eco-environments in Three Gorges Reservoir Region and basic farmland construction in Chongqing, the important meaning of land consolidation carried on in Chongqing nowadays is analyzed. Moreover, the existing problems of land consolidation in Chongqing karst district are concluded from the above.The fourth part: Classification and empirical study to the karst area in Chongqing. According to the landform condition in karst area, the karst district is classified to three typical areas, which are karst trough and basin and mountainous districts with moderate height. At first, the natural conditions of each area are introduced in classification research; Then from such respects as the quantity, quality and layout and so on, the local land resource state is analyzed; Third, on the base of balanced situation of local water resource, the local water resource condition is analyzed in terms of utilization efficiency of the water resource, and the local water and soil resources matching situation is analyzed further; Fourth, according to the analysis of the above several respects, engineering design is carried on combining the local real investigation.The fifth part: Conclusion and discussing.Through studying and analyzing this text gets some following conclusions: 1 -. The characteristic of the land utilization in the mountain region of the southwest karst is that: the stony desertification is serious and there are many haphazard crack of stones; With a varied landform there are more slope and cultivated land; Water resource is space-time misdistribution.
